Welcome! Relax and stay awhile.

Hi, I'm Julie and my last name is Socher but it's pronounced soccer. I'm one of those people who keeps every single photo, even if it's out of focus. Call me a hoarder of photos if it makes you feel better. There's something about capturing a moment and creating memories that I just love. I strive for natural light and use my flash only when I absolutely have to. I also like the challenge of exploring different and untraditional locations. I tend to laugh a lot too, and loudly. Don't say I didn't warn you.

I'm an aspiring photographer and full time graphic designer in the DC, MD and VA area. This blog showcases my most recent shoots, design work and personal ramblings. Want to know more? Want to schedule a session? Shoot me an email and let's chat.

Oh, and don't forget to say hi!

My dude in a polaroid transfer

In a couple weeks I’ll be visiting my dude in the much needed warm weather down south. It’ll be a nice birthday present and a happy reunion at the same time. I will say, I am nervous about flying this time. With all the weird stuff happening lately with airplanes really freaks me out. I’ll try to be brave though. It’s a much needed break and I hate this DC cold weather.

While he’s away for a year, our new condo is being built and we have a lot to look forward to next year and of course his return. Before he left, I had him model for me so I could play around with the light.. cough cough…(so I could have photos of him before he left) I also got this awesome polaroid transfer set from swiss miss design haus, a door prize I won at the basics workshop . So I decided to play around with them tonight. I have to figure out what to do with these, I’d hate to have them sit on my hard drive. Anyone have any ideas?

Boudoir :: Paige

So…. I love Boudoir photography. I had such an awesome time at Robin Owen’s boudoir workshop. I got a better understanding on how to use studio lights, posing and workflow. I’m really having a lot of fun in this learning phase, I feel like a sponge. Now only if I had the cash to go out and buy all the things I need. ahhh..one can dream, can’t they? It was a small group of three, so we got to work with the model one on one and learn the technical and creative aspects of shooting boudoir.

I’ll admit, studios intimidated me. Not only that, I hated the confinements of a studio. I like to be out and about, exploring. But all I regret now is not giving them a chance. The challenge of finding the light is exciting for me. So all I can do now is hope for more opportunities to come.

Here is Paige, she was a GREAT model.

Doesn’t she have GREAT hair?

I’d kill for eyelashes like those!

Thank you Robin and Paige!

Misha & Kimbo

It was a snuggie fest at Jay and Sunny’s house. While taking their Christmas photo, I snapped a few of Misha and Kimbo. They didn’t seem to mind their snazzy new snuggies. Now they can read books under a blanket with the use of their paws.

Lindsie & Mike :: Engagement shoot

Mike and Lindsie are Engaged! I met them through some mutual friends and we all always have a great time together when we hang out. Not to mention Braddock the friendliest and cutest pup ever. Braddock just wanted to play all day with all the other dogs that walked by, but he was such a great model for us. And THANK YOU to Sonya who came out with us and helped us with Braddock. Lindsie and Mike are getting married in May, and I can’t wait! Here are my favorite shots from the session in Old Town.
