I was invited out to take pic at the Legwarmers show in Baltimore this past weekend, and as always, had a blast. I had some trouble at first with my new lens: tamron 17-50mm 2.8, and was feeling like I should return it. But after very little processing, realized I should probably keep it.

I was going through the back up hard drive and noticed that I had not posted any of the concert photos from the Jam Cruise. Grace Potter, one of the few I really enjoyed onthe cruise put on an awesome show. It was REALLY windy that night and the lighting was REALLY …ummm…challenging. 
Due to my growing collection of concert photos, I’ve decided to make a portfolio dedicated specifically to conncert photography. For now, Carbonmade will due to showcase this portfolio. I was never much of a concert goer until I brought my camera to a show and made my discovery. This led to getting my first photopass and hanging out in the photo pit which is also the best seat. I’m starting wonder if I should have been a photojournalist?

I was invited out by the Legwarmers to take photos of thier March 28, 2009 show at The State Theater in Virginia. This time I got to meet most of the band members who are just as cool as they are on stage. Once again, I had so much fun! I posted photos from a past show they had in Baltimore and had an awesome time at that show too. I will say, I really liked the Baltimore venue, but the lighting at State Theater was better. I’m really getting into concert photography, I enjoy it more and more. I just hope to do more in the future.

I’m really getting into concert photography. It thrills me. I think I get a kick out of the lighting challenge since it changes a lot coupled with the fact that I only have one “fast” lens to work with so I have to make due until I’m rich and famous and can afford those fancy fast lenses for low light photography.
I’ve been granted one photo pass so far and hope to get the opportunity to shoot another show with a pass, so much easier! If anyone knows of a good way to get these, let me know. At this show at the State Theater in Fairfax, VA, the steady and I went to see Brett Dennen. Good show I must say, and I really enjoyed his opener, Angel Taylor. She was fabulous also. I think what I liked best about them was how earthy they seemed. (that’s kinda hippy for me to say hehe..) It wasn’t all about fancy clothes and make up and flashy lights. It was pretty intimate and soulful. I like that. I was in the audience for this show and moving around for different shots was not a good idea, otherwise I would loose my spot and piss off a lot of people getting in the way. I really like how colorful some came out.
Angel Taylor… So Awesome. I think this is when she did her cover of “Sex on Fire” by Kings of Leon. Believe me, it was rad.
