Seriously, just to be in the top 5 was just pure awesome. But to win the Grand Prize, first place of the T-shirt logo contest, was just an HONOR! Thanks to all that voted.
I’ve posted the press release:

There’s times that the design team in the office gets some down time, so we’ve started a weekly design challenge for us to keep our creative awesomeness in check. Constantly pumping out stuff for the same client can get kinda dull, so we like to switch it up a bit.
The goal is to create a portfolio worthy piece from the free istock image of the week from istockphoto.com and turn into a design masterpiece of your choice but the end of the week. At the end we all comment on each other’s work, good and bad. Makes us all better designers, right?
This week was a little different. We had the option to choose any photo and any end product (poster, flyer, brochure, website, etc.) but it had to be music themed. With the help of a tutorial I found, I created this, but used my own images and tweaked it a little. I think in all my time in school and work, this has to be the best photoshop piece I’ve done. So I thought it was blog worthy…

I’ve submitted my design for the Army Ten Miler t-shirt contest, and happy to say that mine got chosen in the top 5 out of over 100 entries. So registered runners have the chance to vote on their favorite design. All designs are well done, and VERY good. Mine is Design 1.

Due to my growing collection of concert photos, I’ve decided to make a portfolio dedicated specifically to conncert photography. For now, Carbonmade will due to showcase this portfolio. I was never much of a concert goer until I brought my camera to a show and made my discovery. This led to getting my first photopass and hanging out in the photo pit which is also the best seat. I’m starting wonder if I should have been a photojournalist?
Here’s a snippet of the portfolio. I can only hope that it gets bigger. jsocherlive.carbonmade.com

I came across this today via twitter and thought this was worthy of printing out and hanging in my cubicle next to my Designer’s Pledge print out. Thanks, Squidspot for this lovely piece of work. You can download the hi-res image here
